Super Savers Revisited...
Week 5 has now come and gone. Many of the questions in the small group discussion have turned to budgeting, saving, and just plain squeezing more out of the budget. This is great! So, to aid in this process, I thought it would be a good idea to re-visit the super saver lesson and ask everyone to post their money saving ideas. We could all learn from what you have to say so please don't be shy and post away.

One thing we do is stick to our shopping list - very hard to do in Costco! We save a lot of money by just sticking to what is on the list and stay away from impulse spending.
We also cut everything from our land line phone, no call waiting and no zones. It saves us about $20.00 a month. Just the basic plan.
We set our air conditioner to 82 degrees and use it very sparingly . .. I heard that rates are going up 30% this summer, yikes!
We don't have cable or a dish - never had it to begin with. We just don't watch TV.
I guess saving is just a state of mind for us. And if you really think about it there are so many things that are just unnecessary that don't affect the overall quality of our lives. For us, saving money goes hand in hand of getting out of debt.
PS. I'm still using my 7 year old computer that I spend a lot of time yelling at - but the 1st thing I am going to get is a new IMAC when we are debt free! Paid for in cash of course.
I've heard about this website: www.thegrocerygame.com. I haven't used it, but have had some friends who have and spent less on groceries. It sounds like you basically sign up and they tell you about coupons/discounts going on at a specific store where you already shop. You do have to pay for access to the site, but it looks like you get a four week trial for $1.
Again, I'm not personally endorsing the site at this point, but it might be worth checking out. If you do, please let us know if you spent less or not!
