Planning Your Work, Working Your Plan

So yesterday around 7am Stacie and I were having breakfast and crunchin numbers. Not so much the August or even the July budget, but the 2 year plan and exit strategy. Talking about the what-if scenarios and the best and worst-case scenarios. It was exciting, tiresome and sickening all at the same time. The emotional rollercoaster ranges from the excitement of having a plan that will work and where the progress can be measured, to the sickening questioning of how we ever allowed this to happen in the first place.

Ultimately we realize the amazing peace you get from having a plan, working your plan, tweaking your plan, and re-working your plan. Never before FPU did we have a plan.

Having a plan is great, but I am continually reminded of what the Proverbs tell us..."The heart of man plans his path but the LORD directs his steps."

Praise God, and keep fighting the good fight!

You guys are what FPU is all about. I think God will honor your diligence and the worst case scenario will never happen. The worst case scenario would have been you and Stacie never getting on Dave Ramsey's plan and starting FPU. So you can rest assured that whatever happens it will be better than things were before you started your Total Money Makeover.

When I read your first comment, Alex, the first thing that came to mind is that if you keep working the plan, the day will come when you crunch Rice Krispies at breakfast rather than numbers. Sorry attempt at humor, wasn't it? But it's really true that with God's help and your prayerful persistence in working your plan, there's hope and the peace you mentioned rather than the chaotic budget meetings and constant financial anxiety of the past.
